So there was an incident over the weekend at my "soon to be" former College...the story goes like this...

A campus party turned CW Post-al early yesterday morning.
A wild melee at the university on Long Island left two people with stab wounds — including a freshman football player — and four others injured.

Witnesses said the fracas — which broke out about 3 a.m. at a party thrown by a student in his cramped dorm room — spilled out into a hallway and left blood splattered the length of a corridor.

“There was blood from one end of the hall to the other,” said one dorm resident. “It looked like someone got shot. It was ridiculous. It was scary.”

A source said that Dominique Moody, a freshman linebacker originally from Texas, was stabbed in the ruckus, which involved about 30 people.

Details of his injuries were not disclosed, but he is expected to recover, police said.
A witness said that a female student was knocked unconscious during the fight and that another student was taken from the scene on a stretcher. None of the injuries are life-threatening, police said.

Sources said that the fight pitted CW Post students against an off-campus crew.
Police said they were investigating what started the fight and that no arrests had been made yesterday afternoon.

SMH...College students...can we PLEASE do better.

Oh and for the record Par-City was NOT involved with the incident!

Air Jordan XI “Space Jams”

These “iconic” Air Jordans are being (re?) released tomorrow and there’s a heap of hype surrounding them…Which of course got me thinking….Niggas still sweat Jordans?

I mean don’t get me wrong, they’re dope, but to wait out in line to cop an article of clothing that everyone in your neighborhood will also be rocking just screams corniness to me.

Maybe it’s because I’ve never really been a “Jordan head”. I mean the most I’ve ever rocked a pair of Jordans was before I was attending elementary school, back when Jordon released a new shoe it was actually A NEW SHOE. No changing colorways, no fusing with Air Force Ones, they were really a brand new pair of J.Os.

Again I’m not knocking the shoes or anyone copping them, I’m just blind to all the hype that surrounds them. Anybody wanna explain it to me feel free to do so in the comments.

PAR-CITY: lemme try to explain what we are not

So I just started talkin to this girl, and as usual, she asks the obligatory question, "so what do u do in ur spare time?"

I hesitate but then retort, "Besides just hangin out and watchin movies, i do music."

"Typical guy," she responds and I knew at that moment I had to downplay my musical aspirations or else she'd label me as a loser for life. So then I go into detail about how I was a broadcasting major and I've met x amount of rappers and working in radio I was always around people who were into music, etc. etc.

But then I got to thinking, why should I have to cover this up? I've been at this music thing for some 5 to 6 years now. I'm no music mogul, but I've written, recorded, and engineered a hefty number of good songs and worked with more than a handful of artists. I should be proud of this "hobby" by now.

And speaking more specifically about my group Par-City, I feel we've done a commendable job of separating ourselves from the typical class of upstart acts that simply try to shortcut there way to recognition by making easily digestible music that fans can drone into and forget about as soon as something equally ignorant is regurgitated for their consumption. I hate to insult or sound like an "elitist" but it's something that I'm consciously aware of as I sit down to write a new song.

As a group, we're not trying to be a flash in the pan, and the songs we make aren't meant to be one and done. As cliche as it sounds, we're trying to make music that is timeless, music that will spark a thought besides "i get money, i got swag and every girl wants to f**k me." Sure SOME of the music may contain such content, but its certainly not ALL we do. And when we do make such music, I'd like to think it was done in a clever and lyrical enough way that its not seen as juvenile delinquency on a drum pattern.

And herein lies the problem. Par-City is on the cusp of one of our biggest musical endeavors to date and yet we STILL have to fight off this stigma. We still have to defend what we do and how we do it to some people who are too used to seeing our "peers" make shuck and jive music. We are still subconsciously categorized into the same field of rappers who spew out the same formulaic music over and over and over again.

And what's most sad is that any attempt to deviate from this norm (i.e. make a song with an actual concept) is looked at as weak or nerdy. I've sat by and watched people who I felt were good lyricists go against themselves and dumb down their music for the sake of gaining recognition all the while not realizing how counterproductive their efforts really were.

In closing I want to make this disclaimer:
Our music is supposed to be listened to, not just heard. Interpreted as well as recited. There are thoughts, wordplay, rhyme-scheme, and metaphors (not punchlines) that make each song unique from what you may be used to hearing. I say this not to INTIMIDATE, but to REITERATE...we are not those dudes that just started "spittin" yesterday. We are not "hot like the sun" or "fly like a jet" or whatever other cookie cutter punchline you can come up with.

I don't even call myself a rapper, i use the term "musician" but why should i have to do that, why do i need to cover up something i love because of peoples misconceptions about the type of music that i make...

I use to like Charles Hamilton. I downloading all of his projects from the whole Hamiltonalzation thing. I even thought that he was gonna be the next big thing at one point. Then this happened


This is something ive been asking for the past few days/weeks/months. Ever since getting punched by his girl and attend a private couples therapy online for the world to see, he seems to be MIA.

I decided to look into the situation, first checking his blog. Surprisingly when i got there i found that all of his blog entries are gone. I did see this on the page though

MIXING/ENGINEERING:

$200 a song
$1000 for 5 songs
$300 for mastering one song
$500 for mastering an EP (5-7 songs)
$1000 for mastering an album (8+ songs)

PRODUCTION:

$1500 per beat
$3000 to provide beats for entire project
$5000 to produce entire project (give direction, etc.)
$7500 to executive produce a project (give direction, provide beats for entire project, track-out and master final product)

STIPULATIONS:

I will not mix or produce gangsta or misogynist music. At all. And though I'm ill at Autotune, you gotta be able to NOT rely on it. Period.

Alright look...yeah what Kanye did was inexcusable and wrong, but for all you people out there saying Ye needs to die and i'll never listen to his music again...go sit down somewhere because you're lying to yourself. Ye is still one of the most talented musical artist this generation has seen and he makes fucked up mistakes just like the rest of us...HE"S HUMAN!!!

I felt Jay Leno was alil out of line bringing up Kanye's mom and to me it looked like thats when it REALLY hit him that he messed up. Hopefully this means no more outbrust from Ye' (as entertaining as some of them could be)
